Just to tell you I bought this toy about a year ago, but I didn't create a review.

This toy is really awesome. In robot mode, the head is really movie accurate. However, it's not really movie accurate, and also the back red parts fall over frequently. The energy sword does fall off, so now I don't really use it and when I do, I pretend it's the Ion Blaster. The feet are annoying because for one foot the toes always want to fold back. Despite that Optimus Prime's robot mode is pretty cool.

In vehicle mode, the windshield looks odd, due to the circles on it. The lines on the grill (due to the transformation) are odd. I really liked the flame design. The "horn" sound is a nice addition as well. Overall, the truck mode is pretty awesome.

The box did cheat a little. The picture on the box showed blue lights for both the "horn" and the Automorph Technology. However, the lights were yellow.

Overall, Transformers Leader Optimus Prime is one awesome Transformer.

I bought a used one for about 30 dollars.

It is said no box.

But I couldn't find the gun.

I emailed the seller but didn't get any reply

This toy fits the bill. The lights and sounds are cool. When the head pops out of the Truck it makes a very nice mechanized sound effect.

The transformation takes a few minutes, it is detailed and yet straightforward. The arms, legs and joints are sturdy, but there are a very few plastic areas that can pop off and are easily popped back on (looks as if it was designed that way).

The gun/sword pops out like a switchblade (very nicely done) and becomes part of the trailer hitch mechanism when it is transformed.

All in all, the toy is superbly engineered. (it really rolls like a semi when transformed). The most impressive factor is the sturdiness & weight; they just do not make toys this solid any more (and they couldn't have made one this intricate)

On a last note, this is the toy my son is playing with after Christmas was over. Teaching him how to transform it was fun. Recommendation: Throw away the instructions and spend some time figuring out how to transform it back and forth.

Compre este juguete para mi hijo de 8 años, es sorprendente como lo entretiene, las piezas no se rompen ni se destraban el lo utiliza para pelear con otros muñecos y este soporta. Los detalles son muy buenos tanto como camion como robot el unico detalle que no me termina de convencer es que tanto a el como a mi hijo nos ha costado muchisimo cambiarlo de robot a camion y viceversa, quiza con el tiempo tomemos practica y lo logremos hacer mas facilmente. El juguete es sorprendente, lo recomiendo al 100% personalmente le agregaria un manual muuuuuuuuucho mas detallado de como cambiarlo de forma.

This is a highly detailed, movie accurate version of Optimus Prime. To start with, his robot mode looks fantastic. He comes with a energy sword that can be flipped out from his arm. The vehicle mode is awesome as well with some nice "premium" touches to the color. My favorite thing about the toy is that i'ts so big, standing at about 10 inches.

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime and the 3 year old got Jetfire.

These toys are probably a wet dream for some Transformer fanboys because of their extreme attention to detail. But as children's toys they are horrific. The reason why is that they are nearly impossible to transform.

After spending about 30 minutes with each, I was unable to get them to satisfactorily transform into vehicle mode. When I started with Jetfire, I didn't realize that they came with instructions. When I worked on Optimus however I found that he came with a 25 step process to transform him. I thought I would have better luck with the instructions. But to no avail. I just could not get some of the pieces to fit right, and following the instructions was difficult.

These toys are amazing works of design, but transforming them from robot to vehicle form is just not fun. I can't imagine it being fun even if it were to work properly. In the movies and comics, the transformation process looks cool, but the reason why is it is so fast and smooth. It shouldn't take half an hour to transform between modes. I assume with practice I might be able to drop that to 5 minutes. But 5 minutes is 4 minutes and 55 seconds longer than it should take.

I actually liked the transformers from when I was a kid. They were simple and fun to transform... these are a nightmare.

we got one for my little brother, 9, for his birthday, and he really liked it, but could never transform it. i always had to do it for him, and i'll tell you, even when i knew exactly how to do it it could take twenty minutes just trying to get everything to snap into the right place. the end product is very cool and realistic though. however, i was off to college 3 weeks, went back home, and it was broken! children will break things like this when they don't actually know how to transform it. you can't guess and get it right, u'll end up breaking something, also, you'll think you broke something when u didn't because of all the parts. all in all cool toy, my brother really liked it, be prepared to transform it for your kid everytime into the vehicle. back into the robot form is actually really easy

This is 2007 movie Optimus Prime in his leader class form and he really is a solid toy. His vehicle mode is a nice Peter built truck and his robot mode is a good representation of the autobot leader I grew up with watching the 80's cartoon before school. The reason I do this review now, even though I have owned him for more than a year, is because I wanted to compare him with some other live action movie style Primes.

First we observe him with his voyager class counterpart. In vehicle mode '07 leader Prime wins with rubber tires a working horn and a bigger version of the truck. When it comes to trucks bigger is indeed better!

As for the robot mode I must grudgingly yield to the double gunslinger that is voyager class Prime. He has less vehicle extra parts on him and those weapons just plain outclass leader Optimus' ion blaster.

Bottom line: Voyager slightly edges out leader class with a better robot mode and a much better price!

Last but not least we look at 2007 leader next to his 2009 successor, Revenge of The Fallen Leader Optimus Prime. In truck mode they are running a tight race. 2007 Prime still has those nice rubber wheels but his weapon storage is WAY too much of a give away for a robot in disguise. '09 Prime lacks the rubber tires (sigh) but he makes up for it with a much more clean and crisp truck mode keeping his energy swords tucked safely in his truck mode engine. ROTF prime takes 2007 version in vehicle mode.

In robot mode there is no contest. While the first leader class has a nice robot form that is very solid and effective, the new leader Prime just knocks this ball right through the neighbor's window and runs away before he even has a chance to call Alpha Trion

Bottom line: ROTF Prime wins this comparison any day of the week.
So what have we learned?
2007 leader class is a great toy but if you do not have one by now don't bother getting one. I guarantee that you will do much better with the voyager class or ROTF version. Thank you for reading this review and have a great day! Time for me to transform and roll out!

After reading the reviews, I got the impression that this toy looks good in robot and truck mode. I was not disappointed. Once I got it out of the package, which was not easy, my 11 year old son took it. He pulled things in different directions for about 20 seconds, decided that things were complicated, and he wanted to look for an on-line tutorial. He has an older transformer that is relatively complex, and I was never able to figure that one out. We expected this to be tougher, so I wasn't surprised that he did not dive into it.
I glanced at the instructions and could not make sense of them. Perhaps it was because I did not start out as in the beginning picture. But I tend to be good with "picture only" instructions, and this one will not act as a simple "how to" guide. After playing around with it for a while, I found that it was not as tough as I expected. My son said that since it took me about 15 to 20 minutes, it could not be so bad. He decided to do it on his own and had a lot of fun with it.
After you do it a couple of times, it might not take more than 5-6 minutes to become a truck, but it is still intricate enough that it will not be boring for a child. It's not something that will get cast aside after a few days. Turning it into a robot is relatively trivial. If you merely pull everything outwards, it becomes self evident fairly quickly. But there will still be a few stumbling blocks, especially the first few times, and there will be a few things that won't be quite right without a little work.
I would not recommend it for a five year old, or for anybody who tends not to be good at puzzles or similar toys. But if experience tells you that you are ready for it, or if you don't mind a good challenge, you end up with an impressive looking robot and truck. If you make sure that the child's expectations are set correctly, it can be good for a variety of skill levels. Let them know that it will take time to figure out, but it will be fun trying to do it.
One con is that it does not have much ground clearance as a truck. Pushing it along a sidewalk could scrape up the joint in the middle of the bottom. For indoor play, it should withstand more roughness.

Transforming it is like playing with a Rubik's cube. It's tough at first, you can eventually get it down to a few minutes, and you will probably get bored with it once it becomes easy. The difference is that your child won't need to keep transforming it, since the goal is creating a toy, not solving a puzzle. Both the truck and robot are fun for a child to play with.
There are different versions of this, so do a search on amazon before you buy it. Mine came with an extra two small figures, and cost less than buying Optimus Prime alone. But prices can fluctuate daily.

First off I would say the attention to detail is excellent for this model of Optimus Prime. I would suggest this model is good for a collector and represents a good value for the collector. For the 5 year old child, it is not a good choice as it is difficult to transform. The instructions are very poor picture type instructions and provide no help in figuring out how to transform it. Only after viewing a Youtube video was I able to figure out how to transform it. Even then if certain parts are not positioned precisely the transformer has a tendency to split apart in the truck mode. The manufacturers suggested age are 5-12. I would thing 10 and up might be a better recommendation.

This toy is cute. My 4-year-old son definitely loves to play with it. But he cannot do the transformation alone. My nephew (a 21 year old college boy) transformed it from Prime to a truck in about 2 hours while watching Lakers game. The instruction is not very clear. It does need some imagination to do that. Once it's done, you get a beautiful truck. The first time is always the hardest. The second time should be much faster if you know which part goes to where.

I and my friend play it just now. It took my friend about 30 minutes to change it back to Prime from truck, and took me almost an hour to transform from Prime to a truck by following the instruction. Each of us worked alone. By the way, we are both experienced computer programmers and pretty handy.
